The West of Madagascar is famous for its BAOBAB TREES ; my favorite National Park which is the TSINGY OF BEMARAHA or Limestone pinnacles formation ; the RIVERS to go downstream with dug out canoes (my favorite tour for picnic and for camping where I will be at the same time your tour guide and cook) : Tsiribihina River – Mangoky river will give you variety of choice.
I suggest a loop tour by mixing the West tour (Tana to Morondava) with the South tour
(Morondava –Tulear and Back to Tana) as it allows you to see what I call :
THE BEST OF MADAGASCAR which I think very rich in culture, wildlife and landscape.
I suggest 3 different tours for the West of Madagascar :
1-The Tsiribihina river trip :
6 to 7 days trip
>Circuit :
Tana - Antsirabe -2 or 3 days on the river – Visit of Baobabs – Morondava.
2- The Tsingy of Bemaraha :
(limestone pinnacles) : 4 to 5 days trip
>Circuit :
Fly from Tana (the center) or from Tulear (the South) to Morondava – 4WD to the Tsingy of Bemaraha – 2 days exploration of the National park and World Wide Heritage including visit with a dug out canoe in the gorge of Manambolo river – 4WD back to Kirindy forest (the best place for nocturnal Lemurs, mouse Lemurs) – Baobabs visit – Morondava.
3- The Tsiribihina river and The Tsingy of Bemaraha mixed together :
9 days trip
This is to combine the canoe trip and the visit of the Tsingy of Bemaraha.
After the river, driving to the Tsingy of Bemaraha for 2 days exploration of the National Park, driving to visit baobab trees including the famous Baobab Avenue, then driving to Morondava.
