Day 1
Tana-Antsirabe: 175 kms distance
-Drive from Tana to Antsirabe, see handcraft market on the way, beautiful landscape of the Merina tribe area, the everyday life of the Merina people.
-Visit of Antsirabe: the hot spring city with its rickshaws, semiprecious stones, lakes…

Day 2
Antsirabe-Miandrivazo: 220 kms distance
-Drive from Antsirabe to Mandrivazo
NB: Miandrivazo is the Sakalava people’s village where starts the canoe trip
Picnic lunch between the 2 cities, beautiful landscape on the way

Day 3
- First day on the river:
Sakalava tribe’s way of life, beautiful scenery and landscape, birding, chameleons
Lunch on the river bank
Get to the gorge of the Tsiribihina for camping:
- CAMPING:
On the river bank, beautiful sunset, stars or moonlight
Day 4
Always on the river:
Exploring the gorge of the Bemaraha area
-Lemurs watching, shower and swim at the waterfall, lunch
-Paddling from the waterfall to the second camping site, in between: walk to visit a Sakalava traditional village.
-Camping:
Always on the river bank: beautiful sunset, stars or moonlight
Day 5
Third and last day on the river: see crocodiles, bats, lemurs and sifakas, baobab trees
Pass across the second gorge, see flying foxes ( bats ) and other bird species, crocodiles if lucky then lunch under some trees.
- Walk in the forest to see lemurs and sifakas
-Finish the river trip once out of the second gorge
-Last night camping
NB: Another possibility is to take a zebu cart, walk through remote villages then spend the third night in a basic bungalow where cold drinks are served under a baobab tree.
Day 6
Drive from the river bank or the bungalow to Morondava.
- Visit different baobab species on the way
- Lunch in a local restaurant
- Spend the sunset at the famous and unique Baobab Avenue for unforgettable moment to make pictures.
- Drive to the hotel in Morondava and spend one night there.

Info-Gift
1. It is possible to drive straight from Tana to Miandrivazo if you have less time.
2. It is possible to go down the river with only 2 nights camping and get to Morondava on the 3rd day.
3. The best way to leave Morondava is to fly with Air Madagascar.
4. Young and fit people instead of flying, can take a taxi brousse back to Tana or Antsirabe to save money; check: Taxi brousse.
5. If don’t have anytime to go to the beach, Morondava offers an opportunity to stay on the beach which is on the North of the city.
Also you can visit a fisher’s village of the Vezo people and know more about this nomad people who work on the sea, camp on small Islands and only go to Morondava to sell sea food.
NB: Taxi Brousse is the public mean of transport which connects the provinces to Tana
(the center).
