Bird watching is one of the most popular activities for ecotourists. MADAGASCAR is a promised destination for ornithologists or TWICHERS with its 107 ENDEMIC BIRD SPECIES, 198 NESTING BIRDS, and 5 ENDEMIC FAMILIES.

My 23 Days itinerary covers the most rewarding birding localities, my knowledge in birds rise up every year and I AM IN TOUCH WITH LOCAL GUIDES who, in the National Parks, know exactly where to spot the bird species.

Driving from Tana to ANDASIBE NATIONAL PARK (Rain Forest)
- Birding on the way, stop at the ridge of the Mangoro River (Madagascar Prantincole, Eleonora’s Falcon, Sooty Falcon)

FULL DAY VISIT AT ANDASIBE NATIONAL PARK
- Starting very early in morning to bird watch at Analamazaotra NP

- Morning driving to Vakona Forest Lodge to visit the reserves (Islands of 5 different species of Lemur, the famous fossa…)

DRIVING TO AMPIJOROA NATIONAL PARK THEN NIGHT WALK
- Driving to Ampijoroa
- Meeting the Local Guide to talk about the 3 days visit

DAY 14
FULL DAY VISIT AT ISALO NATIONAL PARK
- Morning visit at Isalo National Park
- Isalo NP is not a recommended place fro birding but it’s where we can spot the Benson’s Rock thrush and it is the most visited NP in the country because of its amazing landscapes and canyons.
NB : The stay at Isalo NP makes easer the following birding at ZOMBITSE FOREST.

DRIVING FROM ISALO NATIONAL PARK TO IFATY
- Driving from Isalo NP to Ifaty

FULL DAY VISIT IN THE IFATY SPINY FOREST
- Early visit in the forest
- NB : This site, is definitely be included in any itinerary, as it is the only easily accessible area for a number of very rare endemics.

DAY 18
DRIVING TO TULEAR THEN FERRY TO ANAKAO
- Early morning driving to Tulear to catch the speed boat to Anakao.
- Once in Anakao, check the Hotel then take the speed boat to visit NOSY VE Island to see the endemic Red tailed Tropic birds.
- Lunch at the Hotel then RELAX ON THE BEACH.

DAY 19
FERRY TO TULEAR THEN FLY TO TANA
- Early in the morning, take a speed boat to Tulear then Driving to the Airport to fly to Tana.
Transfer from the Airport in Tana to the Hotel.

FLY FROM TANA TO MAROANTSETRA THEN FERRY TO MASOALA NATIONAL PARK
- Fly from Tana to Maroantsetra
- Birding around the village

FERRY TO MASOALA NATIONAL PARK THEN VISIT
- Morning ferry to Masoala NP (The biggest Rainforest in the Island)
Meeting the local guide after checking the Hotel then starting the visit
Masoala NP is the best place to discover the Cap East and the place for birding : Helmeted Vanga, Bernier’s Vanga, and Red-breasted Coua….

FULL DAY VISIT OF MASOALA NATIONAL PARK
